  • Can NYMT fix my Chronic Pain?
    Yes! We specialize in helping patients get out of chronic pain and re-learning how to live a pain free life. This process takes time and commitment, however if you are motivated we are the right place for you. We have one life to live and no one should live it in chronic pain, come be a part of an evolutionary change here at NYMT.
  • What is Manual Therapy?
    Manual therapy is a type of physical therapy that involves the use of hands-on techniques to improve the mobility and function of the musculoskeletal system including the fascial system. Manual therapy can involve the use of Fascial Manipulation, Active release, joint mobilization, manipulation, and advanced trigger point therapy to reduce pain. Our philosophy is to reduce the local and connected pain and restore movement through precise functional therapy.
  • What is Functional Therapy?
    New York Manual Therapy is certified through Functional Patterns, and adopts the big 4 (Standing, walking, running, and throwing) as the cornerstone of functionality. We have a very structured movement system that teaches you to become more efficient in each of these areas. If we are not treating your pain, then we are teaching you have to move better and make better decisions when it comes to exercise selection, not every exercise is a good exercise.
  • Does NYMT treat Post-Operative conditions
    Yes and No. Traditional PT works well for early and mid stages of recovery. Many Surgeons have specific protocols that are best followed in these institutions. However, if you are near the end of your PT, and still have functional limitations, then NYMT maybe exactly what you are looking for.   • What type of Physical Therapy services does New York Manual Therapy offer?
    New York Manual Therapy provides evidence-based manual therapy services to help patients with musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Our services include manual joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, therapeutic exercises, postural and movement re-education, and functional movement training. We also offer integrative treatments such as trigger point therapy, cupping, and running gait analysis and training. Our goal is to teach every patient how to move better and exercise pain free for the rest of their life.
  • Why don't you accept insurance?
    At New York Manual Therapy, we believe that the best care comes from personalized, one-on-one treatments. Unfortunately, most insurance companies limit the amount of time we can spend with each patient, which would prevent us from providing the level of service that we believe our patients deserve. Therefore, we are not in-network with any insurance companies and do not accept insurance payments.
  • What information should I bring for my evaluation at NYMT?
    When coming for your evaluation at NYMT, please bring a complete list of your current medications, a list of any medical conditions you have, recent lab results or x-rays that are pertinent to your condition, and any relevant information about your current physical activity level. Additionally, please dress comfortably and wear clothes that will allow access to the affected area.
  • Can NYMT fix my Scoliosis?
    Yes! Our unique approach to fixing scoliosis includes manual therapy and the functional patterns method. Every individual and spine is unique, so having a well trained practitioner makes all the difference.
